A pet memorial picture frame is a handmade wooden keepsake that holds your pet’s photo alongside their laser-engraved name, dates, and a memorial verse. Each one is cut, stained, and engraved by hand in our Brampton, Ontario workshop from solid natural wood, then shipped across Canada and the USA.

Losing a dog or cat doesn’t feel like losing a pet. It feels like the house got quieter. This frame was made for that — somewhere their face can stay in the room, next to words that say what they were to you.

What Makes This Different From a Printed Memorial Sign

Most pet memorial frames sold online are printed — ink on MDF or particle board, sealed under a coating that yellows and chips within a couple of years. This one has no ink on it at all.

The body is solid natural wood, not veneer or MDF. Your pet’s name, their years, and the memorial verse are laser engraved directly into the surface, meaning the lettering is physically cut into the wood rather than printed on top of it. It cannot peel, fade, or wear away, no matter how often it’s handled. The face is sanded and hand-finished so the natural grain still reads through the stain.

How the Photo Works

The left side holds a clear protective insert sized for a standard portrait photo. Slide your pet’s picture in, and swap it out any time you like — many owners rotate between a puppy photo and a later one.

Choose the picture where they look most like themselves. In our experience the slightly goofy candid works better on a memorial than the posed one.

Two Ways to Display It

Every frame ships with both mounting options included, so you can decide once it’s in your hands:

• Saw tooth hanger — mounts flat and secure on a wall, no additional hardware needed
• Dowel pin stand — angles the frame for a mantel, shelf, bedside table, or entryway console

The Engraved Verse

The standard inscription reads:

How to Order

1. Choose your size and stain colour
2. Enter your pet’s name and dates in the personalization field (for example: Charlie, 2015 – 2022)
3. Add any custom verse you’d like in place of the default
4. Email your pet’s photo to info@woodartgallery.ca, or message us after checkout

We build every order from raw lumber, so production takes 3–5 business days, plus 3–7 business days in tracked transit. If you need it for a memorial service or an anniversary date, message us before ordering — we can often accommodate a rush.

Care and Placement

Display indoors. Dust with a soft dry cloth; skip wood polish and wet wipes, which can dull the finish. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources like radiators or fireplaces, since prolonged UV and heat will lighten any stained wood over time. Treated this way, the frame will outlast you.

Can I use this as a cat memorial frame?

Yes. The default verse says “dog,” but we’ll change it to “cat” or any wording you prefer at no extra cost — just tell us when you order.

Can I hang it on the wall instead of standing it up?

Both. A saw tooth wall hanger and a dowel pin stand are included with every frame, so you can switch between wall and tabletop whenever you want.

Will the engraving fade over time?

No. The text is cut into the wood by laser rather than printed onto it, so there is no ink or vinyl layer that can fade, peel, or chip.

What size photo fits?

The insert takes a standard portrait-orientation photo. If you’re unsure whether your picture will work, send it to us before ordering and we’ll check the crop for you.

How long does delivery take to Canada or the USA?

Production is 3–5 business days and tracked shipping adds 3–7 business days, so most orders arrive within 6–12 business days total.

Can you make it from a photo if my pet was a mixed breed?

Yes — this frame uses your actual photograph rather than a breed illustration, so any pet works, mixed breed or otherwise.
